About Us

WHO WE ARE

WE ARE ACUTELY AWARE THAT IN THE LOCATIONS WHERE WE OPERATE, SOME COMMUNITIES STRUGGLE TO GET BY. THE PUMA ENERGY FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH TRUSTED ORGANISATIONS TO HELP IMPROVE LIVELIHOODS AND MAKE A MEANINGFUL CHANGE TO PEOPLE’S LIVES.

Puma Energy is a global energy business, and the Puma Energy Foundation is its philanthropic arm. The Foundation supports projects in the regions where Puma Energy is present. We are currently involved in philanthropic programmes in 18 countries across Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

Puma Energy is active in some of the world’s most challenging regions, and is acutely aware that some communities struggle to thrive in difficult economic climates, or after conflicts. Both these scenarios often lead to poor health and educational outcomes. The Foundation’s mission is to support development in such regions through projects that make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. As Puma Energy grows, the Foundation expands its outreach and impact.

WHAT WE DO

WE SUPPORT PROGRAMMES IN THE FIELD OF  FAIR AND SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT , AS A WAY TO FOSTER LOCAL ECONOMIES AND BOOST SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT. MOREOVER, WE ARE COMMITTED TO IMPROVE SAFETY AT LAND AND AT SEA, CONTRIBUTING TO THE HEALTH OF COMMUNITIES AND ENHANCING THE SUSTAINABILITY OF TRANSPORTS. THIS IS WHY WE CREATED THE NEW FOCUS AREA “ CLEAN AND SAFE LOGISTICS ”.  

We partner with local NGOs with experience on the ground and which bring about measurable, tangible impact.

Funds are provided by our parent company, Puma Energy. In 2017, we distributed $1m worth of grants.

The local aspect of our involvement is important as it ensures Puma Energy’s active participation as a responsible corporate citizen. Within Puma offices, employees are made aware of the programmes being supported by the Foundation and are invited to lend a hand when possible. This promotes a sense of ownership and a deeper connection with issues on the ground.

The Puma Energy Foundation is an official supporter of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety.

HOW WE OPERATE

AS PUMA ENERGY’S OPERATIONS GROW, THE FOUNDATION’S WORK EXPANDS. WE CURRENTLY SUPPORT 17 PROJECTS IN SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST CHALLENGING REGIONS…AND ARE KEEN TO DO MORE.

Established in July 2013, the Puma Energy Foundation currently manages a portfolio of 17 programmes running in Africa, in the Americas and in Oceania. The Foundation also donates to disaster relief appeals in these regions, and operates a ‘matching funds’ scheme whereby any funds raised by Puma Energy employees are matched, dollar for dollar, in favour of their chosen cause.

Our choice of partner organisations is determined by the Foundation Board and informed by Puma Energy’s own knowledge of pressing issues on the ground. We also consult with experts in development and philanthropy to ensure that we are donating effectively and impactfully.

The Puma Energy Foundation supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global development agenda set by the United Nations aiming at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.

We embrace the ambitious vision of the SDGs to better communicate our philanthropic strategy, identify key partners targeting common challenges and frame in a more universal way our scope.

MEET THE TEAM

Operating out of Geneva, Switzerland, the Puma Energy Foundation is made up of five permanent staff and is guided by the board. Regular field visits to our projects and ongoing strategic discussions keeps everyone updated and ensures actions.

 

Vincent Faber
Executive Director

Vincent steers the strategic direction of the Puma Energy Foundation, in partnership with the Board. He sets the Foundation’s objectives and ensures that programmes are managed effectively, and also reviews and selects new programme partners and seeks synergies between initiatives.


Céline Yvon
Head of Programmes

Céline started her career at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs before joining the private sector where she specialised in change management processes. Céline holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute in Geneva and a Certificate in Innovation & Sustainability from Harvard University. Céline also has a musical background.


Ksenia Pons
Grant Administration Officer

Before joining the Trafigura Foundation, Ksenia worked for seven years in Trafigura in the HR Department. Prior to that she worked at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and Procter & Gamble in Moscow.
Ksenia strongly believes in humanitarian work and is eager to contribute her skills and experience to the objectives of the Foundation.


Amanda Noakes
Programme Manager

Prior to joining the Trafigura Foundation, Amanda spent several years in the non-profit sector, working in human rights, peacebuilding, migration and development. She has experience managing and supporting research, advocacy and capacity-building projects for countries including Syria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. Amanda’s exposure to urban poverty in her home country of Brazil has always motivated her professional aspirations to support opportunities for all individuals and    communities to thrive.


Federica Poletti
Communication Manager

Before joining the Trafigura Foundation, Federica worked as Marketing and communication manager in the energy sector (ForGreen), and as Communication manager for European projects (the European Capital of Culture) and NGOs focused on sustainable development and education (Centre for London, La Dante Alighieri Institute). She has expertise in corporate communication and corporate social responsibility.
Federica has graduated in Philosophy at the University of Padova and at the Sorbonne in Paris, and holds a Master degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics. She speaks fluently French, English and Italian.


MEET THE BOARD

The Puma Energy Foundation Board meets regularly over the year to review programme operations and validate any new programme proposals. The board lends its business and development expertise to help steer the Foundation in a direction that makes sense for Puma Energy while remaining independent from purely corporate interests.

 

Graham Sharp
Chairman

Graham was one of the founders of Trafigura in 1993, retiring from Trafigura's operational activities in 2007. He now dedicates most of his time to philanthropic endeavours. Graham graduated from St. Johns College (Oxford) with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Engineering, Economics and Management.
Andrew Vickerman
Vice Chairman

Andrew Vickerman has held a board position with Trafigura since October 2010. He has been heavily involved with community work in developing countries throughout his career and held overall responsibility for various foundations and community trusts while with Rio Tinto, one of the world’s leading mining companies. An economist by background with a PhD in economics from Cambridge University, he has also worked as a development economist, academic and economic advisor to government for the World Bank and other international agencies.
Charlotte Dauphin
member

Charlotte is a part of Puma Energy’s Global Corporate Affairs and Marketing team and specifically supports the Asia Pacific region. She also leads the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for Puma Energy. Charlotte graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in Advertising, English Literature, Spanish and Marketing.
Sabine Simkhovitch-Dreyfus
Member

Sabine is attorney-at-law and brings 30 years of experience in corporate and contract law and arbitration with some of Geneva's most prominent law firms. Sabine studied law and political science in Bern, Geneva and Jerusalem.
Christophe Zyde
Member

Christophe was appointed Chief Customer Officer and Head of MEAP of Puma Energy in 2019, having joined Trafigura in 2010 and becoming Puma Energy’s Chief Operating Officer for Africa in 2011. He previously worked for Umicore in a variety of operational and general management roles. Christophe holds an engineering degree from École Polytechnique in Brussels.
